Microsoft dynamics 365 WET portal accelerator

KPMG and Microsoft are both firmly committed to providing web portals that are accessible to everyone. Microsoft has proclaimed that their obligation to accessibility is guided by three main principles – transparency, inclusivity, and accountability – and Microsoft works with governments and organizations around the world to deliver the benefits of digital technology to people with disabilities. To reinforce its commitment to this goal, Microsoft has developed its own Microsoft Accessibility Standards that support the leading global accessibility standards, including:

  • EN 301 549
  • U.S Section 508
  • WCAG 2.1 (ISO/IEC 40500)

Drawing upon our deep knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Portals and web portal accessibility requirements, KPMG has invested in and created a compliant Web Experience Toolkit (WET) Accelerator for Microsoft Dynamics 365.  The KPMG WET Portal Accelerator removes barriers that people with disabilities face all too often in accessing or interacting with websites. The accelerator portal incorporates WET code that is currently available on GitHub, and comprehensive testing has proven that it meets or exceeds Government of Canada accessibility standards.

Four separate accessibility checkers have been utilized to test the compliance of our WET accelerator portal, and each has demonstrated that the portal meets or exceeds WCAG 2.0 Level AA standards:

How Did We Do It?

KPMG’s skilled team of deeply knowledgeable Dynamics 365 developers utilized numerous accessibility features that Microsoft already includes in the Dynamics 365 Portal, and they added the specific Government of Canada WET features.  They then combined and configured these features throughout the accelerator’s design and development, achieving a portal where all users have equal access to information and functionality.

How Does It Look and Work?

The following screen captures, taken from the development site our WET accelerator, illustrate some of its key features.

The style of the portal matches the look and feel of a Canadian Government Website:
